About
Marshall L. Brown is a printmaker and textile artist based in St. Louis, MO. He received his BFA from Washington University in St. Louis in 2025. He was adopted from Chongqing, China to Louisville, KY. The tensions between diaspora, belonging, and occupation are central to his practice, which explores the latent historical and cultural power of pattern. He has participated in the group exhibits keepsake (Des Lee Gallery, 2025), ouch! (Des Lee Gallery, 2024), In a Similar Vein (Washington University, 2023), and The Queer Experience: Joy as Resistance (Gephardt Institute, 2023). He was in the inaugural cohort of the Atkin Residency in the Art of Democracy (2025). Most recently, he received the Belle Cramer Award in Printmaking.
